Grade 9 Painting & Drawing Malaysian
Seascapes/Landscapes
Students must complete all of the following
tasks during the Scheme of
Work.

Each Exercise will be Assessed.
Aim: Students are on a self-directed
program that allows and encourages expression through a range of drawing &
painting activities. Students will produce a series of lead-up drawings
and media experiments, which will be developed into a final painting on canvas.
Concepts & Questions:
- Environments will be explored as a part of the artists context. The events, cultural experience and influences which act upon an artist and the types of artworks produced as a reaction to these forces
- Students will understand that artists have differing styles, which represents the personal nature of Art making and experimentation.
- Does Art have to have meaning?
Over the 8 Weeks students will be required to perform 4 Performance Tasks.
Task 1:Analysis of a Seascapes/Landscapes Artwork.
Students will be introduced to a
body of Landscape artworks. The class will be lead through the analysis process
and shown how to examine a work. Discussion and Group Presentation. Groups of
two will compare and contrast two works of art in front of the class.(10
minutes per group)

Task 2 Copy a Master Seascapes/Landscapes Artwork.
Students will copy an artwork by a
master artist. (eg: Turner). Producing a drawing and
a colour study.

Task 3 :Drawing what we see
through Observation.
Process:Creating a series of landscapes/seascapes
that resemble as closely as possible (realistically) the works that they are
drawing inspiration from.

• Control of the media -pencils, pen
and ink,oil pastels.
• True perspective, dept of field.
• Good proportion.
• Rendering of Light and Shadow.
• Realistic Colour.
