Art & Design Scheme Guide
Scheme 1 Painting and Drawing
Year 7 Home – Personal Spaces
Students must complete all of the following tasks during the Scheme of
Work.
 
·         Each Exercise will be Assessed.
Aim: Students are on a self-directed program that allows and encourages expression through a range of drawing & painting activities. Students will produce a series of lead-up drawings and media experiments, which will be developed into a final painting on canvas.
 
Questions:
What are some of the purposes and roles played by the Visual Arts in Culture?
Why do artists draw personal spaces/public spaces.
 
Over the 8 Weeks students will be required to perform 4 Performance Tasks.
 
Task 1:Analysis of a Personal Interior Artwork.
Students will be introduced to a body of interior artworks. The class will be lead through the analysis process and shown how to examine a work. Discussion and Group Presentation. Groups of two will compare and contrast two works of art in front of the class.(10 minutes per group)

Task 2 Copy a Master Interior Artwork.
Students will copy an artwork of an Interior by a master artist. (eg: Matisse, Whitely, Vermeer). Producing a drawing and a colour study.

Group Evaluation
 
Task 3 :Drawing what we see through Observation.
Process:Creating a series of interior drawings(school,home,public spaces) that resemble as closely as possible (realistically) the subjects that we draw.
Starting with 3 dimensional shapes, then progressing to more complex everyday objects.
Skills to achieve:
   Control of the media -pencils, pen and ink,oil pastels.
   True perspective, dept of field.
   Good proportion.
   Rendering of Light and Shadow.
   Realistic Colour.
Remember to evaluate each skill as you work.

Task4 :Make an Interior Painting based on what we have done and learnt so far.
Free Choice as to subject matter and style. Assessed on leadup- work and standard Art & Design painting rubric.
